To improve the scientific collaboration in cancer research between the different Belgian universities, the Flemish League against Cancer assigns every year a 'VLK-leerstoel'. On 7 October 2010 professor Frédéric Amant from the research group Gynecologic Oncology at the K.U.Leuven received the VLK-leerstoel for his research on cancer during pregnancy.
