Ir. Jeroen Blommaert, doctoral researcher at KU Leuven and member of our research team, studied the brain development of children whose mothers had cancer during pregnancy. Those results have now been published in EClinicalMedicine, The Lancet's new open access journal. Cancer or chemotherapy in general has not been found to have a serious impact on the brain development of the child. In the press release from UZ Leuven, ir. Jeroen Blommaert and Prof. Dr. Frédéric Amant further explain the results of this study. The research is part of Jeroen's doctorate: "Effects of prenatal exposure to cancer treatment on neurocognitive development: an MRI and ERP study."https://www.uzleuven.be/en/news/cancer-during-pregnancy-has-no-serious-impact-childs-brain-development
